History of Hanwha Q.CELLS
Founded in 1952, Hanwha Group has since grown into a global manufacturing company. Originally, Hanwha started as the Korea Explosives Company, but over time it transitioned to operating in the four business areas of explosives, defense, trading, and machinery. It wasn’t until 2010 when Hanwha Group decided to expand into the solar energy business. They acquired Hanwha SolarOne (previously SolarFun Power Holdings) that year and then went public in 2011 (NASDAQ:HQCL). Hanwha Group then acquired Q CELLS, a German solar manufacturer, the following year. Hanwha SolarOne and Hanwha Q CELLS merged in 2015 to form the present day company Hanwha Q CELLS.
